“Hello, I’m a Muskie!”

“Hello, how are you?”

“Fine, thank you.  How are you?”

“Doing well, thanks for asking.”

This is an exchange which takes place hundreds of times throughout the day on the campus of Muskingum University.  As you go to class in the morning, you will hear it.  As you walk on the Quad you will hear it.  As you walk through academic buildings you will hear it.  You will hear it in the dining halls.  You will hear it in the residence halls .  This exchange is known as the “Muskie Hello.”  It can happen to anyone.  Two students may use it.  Frequently a staff or faculty  member will use it when he or she passes a student.  In fact, the “Muskie Hello” is so common that you actually notice when someone does not say it.

The “Muskie Hello” is all about being polite to the people in the Muskie Community.  The “Muskie Hello” is generally between two strangers, and quite honestly, it makes you feel good that someone noticed you and cared enough to say hello.

As you walk the hills of Muskingum, keep an ear open because visitors never set foot on campus without being greeted by a friendly Muskie.
